10% Penalty for Rent Paid by Hand
As CEESS Global, we announce new regulations on rent payments! Within the scope of important changes in residential rents, serious sanctions will be imposed on tenants and landlords who no longer make rent payments through banks and PTT.
New Regulations: Previously, it was obligatory to pay rent payments of 500 TL and above via bank or PTT. However, with the new regulation, regardless of the rent amount, it has become mandatory to make all housing rent payments through a bank or PTT.
Penalty Practices: Fines that used to be imposed only on the landlord will now be applied separately to both the landlord and the tenant. For example, when the rent payment is made by hand:
The penalty amount will be 10 percent of the monthly rent.
The fine amount will start at a minimum of 5,000 TL.
With this amendment, both the landlord and the tenant will be penalized at the rate of 10 percent of the rent amount for each detection. Previously, the fine rate imposed only on the landlord was 5 percent, but with the new regulation, this rate was increased to 10 percent.
Workplace Leases: In workplace leases, both the lessor and the lessee were fined, there was no change in this practice. However, the penalty amounts have been increased.
Upper Limit Increased: The upper limit of the special irregularity fine to be imposed in a calendar year was increased to 20 million TL from the previous 8 million 700 thousand TL. This penalty can be applied to those who make both residential and workplace rent payments by hand.
As CEESS Global, we recommend that all property owners and tenants make rent payments in accordance with these new regulations in order to avoid victimization. Do not forget to pay using bank or PTT channels!
