A New Era in Rental Contracts: Real Estate Agents are now also in e-Government The real estate sector continues to transform with the opportunities offered by technology. Finally, the “Lease Agreement via e-Government” service, which was launched under the leadership of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the first phase of which was completed in November 2024, has also been opened to the use of real estate consultants as of today. With this important development, not only the owner and tenant, but also authorized real estate consultants will now be able to prepare a rental agreement electronically. Thanks to the digital authorization to be obtained from the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre system, real estate consultants will be able to prepare contracts on behalf of property owners and deliver them to tenants. Moreover, these contracts can be verified via e-Government by turning them into barcoded and time-stamped documents. What Does This Mean? As we have stated for many years at CEESS Global, the real estate consultancy profession has started to be represented not only on the field, but also on official digital platforms. As stated by Hakan Akçam, President of the Association of All Real Estate Consultants (TEDB), this step is very critical in the fight against unregistered real estate agents and in terms of the reputation of the profession. With the system fully seated: Scams will be prevented to a large extent, Rent increase rates and tenant's historical information will become transparent, There will be a significant reduction in landlord–tenant disputes. Lease Agreements Are Becoming Digital, the Sector Is Gaining Confidence In the coming days, the full integration of the system will be ensured when the details such as the “wet signature of the guarantor” in the Code of Obligations are resolved electronically.
