Fingerprint Obligation in Land Registry Officially Started! Forgery is Now History

Land registry transactions are becoming more secure! As of January 1, 2025, the chip ID card and fingerprint verification period has officially started. This new application has been implemented to prevent fraud and to realize citizens' property ownership transactions more reliably.

How does it work?
In the new system, title deed transactions are carried out with chip ID cards. Citizens insert their ID card into the device and their fingerprints are taken. These two pieces of information are sent to the electronic identity verification system, where they are compared with data from the Ministry of Interior.

If the information matches, the title deed transaction is completed without any problems. However, if the information does not match, the transaction is not carried out. This system not only prevents fraud, but also protects the rights of citizens.

Why This System?
Land registry transactions can be the target of fraudsters, especially in large real estate transactions. With the new system, identity fraud and irregular transactions using other people's credentials will be eliminated.

This innovation gives title deed owners full control over their property, making transactions faster and safer.

2024 Real Estate Transactions Break Records
In 2024, the real estate sector had an active year. A total of 3 million 65 thousand 872 real estate sales were realized in Turkey. This figure means an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous year. Land registry fee revenues increased by 60% and exceeded 96 billion 133 million TL.

The city with the highest number of real estate sales was Istanbul with 357,873, followed by Ankara and Izmir. While December was the most active month, 2 million 72 thousand transactions were realized in this month.
