New Steps for Green Cities: Rainwater Use and Gray Water Recovery in Buildings Have Become Mandatory! An important step has been taken in the name of building environmentally sensitive, sustainable and healthy cities! 9 New amendments to the Planned Areas Zoning Regulation, which will enter into force as of March 2024, will shape the future of cities in Turkey. In this context, environmental regulations such as making rainwater collection systems mandatory in buildings and implementing gray water recovery in large structures, especially in order to make water use efficient, attract attention. So, how will these changes benefit us and our environment? Rainwater Use: Rainwater collection systems have become mandatory in buildings. This will alleviate the infrastructure problems of cities, while ensuring more efficient use of water resources. Gray Water Recovery: Gray water use is mandatory for large buildings! This will enable the recovery of waste water from daily activities such as showering, laundry, allowing water to be saved without harming the environment. Green Certificate Requirement: It will become mandatory to obtain a Green Building Certificate in new public buildings. Buildings with this certificate will be built using environmentally friendly energy systems and materials, which will save energy. Electric Vehicle Charging Units: It is much easier to install electric vehicle charging units in buildings now! With the approval of more than half of the floor owners, charging units will become widespread rapidly. Barrier-Free Playgrounds: It has become mandatory to create playgrounds in park areas of 2500 square meters and above, where children with disabilities can also benefit comfortably. These changes are important steps for cities to become greener, sustainable and environmentally friendly! As CEESS Global, we also closely follow these developments and continue to offer projects suitable for green cities to our customers. Let's all take steps together for a greener future!
