Rising Prices on Advertising Sites Are Pushing the Sector The difficulties experienced in the real estate sector today are not just economic fluctuations. Another and growing problem is the uncontrolled and disproportionate price increases experienced on advertising sites. This situation has turned into a chain effect that affects not only real estate consultants, but also direct buyers and tenants. while the average price paid for the publication of about 200 ads in 2020 was 4,500 TL, today we see that the fee charged for this number of ads exceeds 100,000 TL. This astronomical increase has reached a level that cannot be explained by free market logic. All representatives of the sector agree on this issue: this structure is not sustainable. Unilateral Hikes Are Shrinking the Sector Thousands of complaints submitted by the Federation of All Real Estate Consultants of Turkey and the Association of All Real Estate Consultants to the Ministry of Commerce and the Competition Authority clearly reveal that the sector is in serious discomfort. These uncontrolled increases limit competition by directly affecting the quality of services and the visibility of consultants; indirectly, they make it difficult to present housing prices transparently. A Call for a Common Solution The proposal made by the President of the Federation Haji Ali Taylan is extremely valuable from the point of view of the sector: “Let's create a board. Let a joint meeting be held with our authorized professional chambers, chambers of commerce and these advertising portals to determine these price increases under the supervision of the ministry once a year.” As CEESS Global, we also support this call and inform the public that we are open to all necessary collaborations in order to create a fair and sustainable advertising policy in the sector. CEESS Global's Stance We support the digitalization of the real estate sector and its technological infrastructures. However, we do not accept that this transformation is carried out with unilateral pricing policies and unfair conditions. We reiterate the need for a joint audit and regulation on this issue on behalf of the efforts of our consultants, the trust of our customers and the health of the sector. A transparent, accessible and auditable advertising system is in the interest of all segments of society, not only real estate offices.
