The Final Excitement of the Earthquake Resistant Building Design Competition! CEESS supports the spread of earthquake-resistant building awareness globally, and we attach great importance to the projects developed by young engineers and architect candidates in this field. The eighth “Earthquake Resistant Building Design Competition”, organized by the Natural Disaster Insurance Institution (DASK) this year, is the scene of great enthusiasm in Istanbul. Great Performance from Young Talents to Realistic Tests! On the second day of the competition, the mock-ups of multi-storey buildings prepared by the university students who reached the finals were subjected to the “shaking table” test, which works with real earthquake data. In these tests, which were performed according to three different scenarios, some models successfully survived, while others collapsed and offered important lessons. The Vital Importance of Earthquake Resistance Was Emphasized These tests, conducted under realistic conditions, provided a practical learning environment to young engineering candidates, while also giving the audience remarkable information about structure durability. The competition strengthened the awareness about safe building design. Final and Award Ceremony: May 16th After completion of all tests, the most successful performing teams will receive their awards at a ceremony to be held on May 16.
