The Housing Move That Gives Hope to Low Income People At a time when it is becoming more difficult to own housing every day, state-sponsored social projects continue to be the door of hope, especially for our low-income citizens. A new housing mobilization is starting with the “Social Housing Project for Low Income” announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Who Will Be Able to Benefit? Some basic conditions are being sought for citizens who want to benefit from this project. First of all, the applicant and his/her nuclear family (spouse and children) should not have any registered residence. As an income criterion, the total household income is expected not to exceed 45,000 TL. In addition, it is required that applicants must be over the age of 18. Which Houses Will Be Built? It is expected that the project will include 2 + 1 and 3 + 1 planned residences in accordance with the community structure. These residences will be designed with the aim of offering a family-oriented social life. As in the previous TOKI projects, it is aimed to provide accessible solutions in terms of both quality and cost. How Will the Pay Terms Be? One of the most striking details is the ease of paying. For low-income citizens who will apply for the project, a 10-month pay plan with a 240 percent down payment is on the agenda. Dec paying between 15,000 - 20,000 TL per month is expected for a family with an average income level of 45 thousand liras. It is planned to increase these payments gradually every year, taking into account the salary increase rate of civil servants. However, as in TOKI's practices, it is stated that care will be taken to keep the increases below the officer's raise. Why Is It Important? As CEESS Global, we have long believed that housing affordability is one of the most important social issues in Turkey. In the face of increasingly difficult rental and sales prices, we think that such social projects offer not only a housing opportunity, but also a life security. We emphasize that this project is very valuable both for improving the quality of urbanization and for providing hope to low-income families. If carried out with the principles of transparency, accessibility and fairness, social housing projects will be a real social investment for the future of Turkey. We will continue to closely follow the developments.
